1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us, information generated through your use of the Service, and information from third-party integrations.

  • Account information: name, email address, company name, role, trade type, and authentication credentials.
  • Project information: project names, addresses, descriptions, budgets, dates, milestones, bids, change orders, and related documents.
  • Communications: messages, invitations, activity feed entries, and support correspondence.
  • Usage and device data: IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and interaction logs.
  • Payment and integration data: when you connect third-party services such as QuickBooks Online, we receive tokens and identifiers needed to facilitate the integration.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the BuilderConnect platform.
  • Authenticate users, manage projects, send invitations, process bids, and deliver notifications.
  • Communicate with you about your account, projects, support requests, security alerts, and product updates.
  • Monitor usage, diagnose issues, and protect against fraud, abuse, or security risks.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With project members: builders and invited trade contractors can see project data, bids, files, and communications according to the permissions you set.
  • With third-party integrations: when you choose to connect QuickBooks Online, BuilderConnect sends limited project and customer data to Intuit to create or update Customers and Jobs in your QuickBooks account. This sharing happens only with your explicit authorization and can be revoked by disconnecting the integration.
  • With service providers: we use trusted hosting, authentication, email, analytics, and security vendors to operate the Service. These providers process data only on our behalf and under contractual confidentiality obligations.
  • For legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of BuilderConnect or others.

4. Data Storage and Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit, encrypted storage for sensitive credentials, access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no internet-based service can be completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe and for using the platform in accordance with best practices.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

BuilderConnect uses cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember your theme preferences, store draft form data, and support analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may limit some features of the Service. We use analytics cookies only to understand how the platform is used and to improve the user experience.

6. Third-Party Services

The Service may include links or integrations to third-party websites and services. This Privacy Policy does not cover those third parties. For example, if you connect QuickBooks Online, Intuit's privacy practices apply to the data processed in QuickBooks. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party service you authorize.

7. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete a project or account, we will remove or anonymize your data in accordance with our data retention practices, except where retention is required by law.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, or to restrict or object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, or to request a copy of the data we hold about you, please contact us at the email address below. We will respond to reasonable requests in accordance with applicable law.
